Juan Palao Quílez, is the "BarbudoTrail" technical director, an important mountain race organized in the Region of Murcia.

He won the Hypnos award in the 2014 edition. He stands out for his international sport career. He answered the interview in English as he has been training and running in important international events as the Iron Man in Galway (Ireland), and he reached the top of Aconcagua (América).
How long have you been doing sport?
I´ve been practicing sport since I was six years old. I started in the cycling school when I was six, and after, when I was a teenager I joined the local handball team. It was there where I found some of my friends, and we spent weekends on the mountains: hiking and climbing around the "El Carche", "Santa Ana"
What sports do you like doing?
I like cycling, mountain biking, triathlon, and handball.
How long do you spend training every day?
I usually do two hours per day.
How many kilometers can you do in a year?
I can cycle, swim and run over 10.000 kilometers per year.
Do you care for food in a special way?
I try to eat healthy. In my diet you can find a lot of vegetables, fruit, fish, and not too much sugar!
What do you usually carry in your bag for a long route?
Normally, I take in my bag: water, mobile phone, enough food and some fruit.
What are the benefits of doing sport in your daily life?
I do sport to feel better and to keep fit, that´s good for my body and for my mind, in the present and in the future. I like to be a healthy person.
Would you like to do any other sport?
I would like to practice mountain-sky.
Who is your athlete idol?
There are many good athletes but those who inspire me are: kilian Jornet (mountain climber), Gomez Noya (triathlon athlete).
What´s been your greater success in sport?
I have had a lot of great moments in my life but if I have to choose one, it could be when I reached the top of Aconcagua in Argentina (the highest peak in America) or when I reached an IronMan triathlon ( 4kilometes swimming, 180 kilometers cycling, and 40 kilometers running).
What did you feel in that moment?
I felt completely happy because I achieved a dream.
What are your next challenges?
I would like to do the "Mont Blanc ultramarathon" next year. It will be a difficult challenge but I will try it with all of my effort, it will take me more than 30 hours of race non-stop!
What message do you have for those teenager who play sport?
They have to enjoy what they are doing, even if they are the first one or the last one, they have to keep it going.
