STOP IT!

Cyberbullying is the use of new technologies and the media such as email, social networks, blogs, instant messaging, text messaging, mobile phones and defamatory web pages to pursue relentlessly an individual or group through personal attacks or other means that may constitute a crime.

Bullying at school has consistently occurred. Psychological violence and insults to homosexuals, women, disabled and "weird people" is not something new for teachers. But what it is new is the power of internet and its omnipresence, which has resulted in cyberbullying. The stalker takes advantage of this new type in order to remain anonymous (he can do everything that internet let him or her do) and sometimes it can be mortal.

Tyler Clementi killed herself. He was 18 years old. He suffered cyberbullying from her roommate, Dharun Ravi, in Rutgers University, in New Jersey (USA). Dharun said in Twitter: "My roommate asked me if I could lend him our room until midnight. I went to Molly's bedroom and I turned on the camera. I saw him kissing with another boy."  Ravi left his computer on in the room, with the camera looking at Clementi's bed and he showed the video of his roommate and his encounter with his couple in a videochat.

In Spain a 37% of young people suffer cyberbullying according to a Microsoft's study about cyberbullying. Specifically, in Spain from that 37% of young people who admit that suffer from cyberbullying a 17% has admitted to have received an unfriendly treatment, a 13% has been object of jokes and a 19% has been object of insults. The project has been carried out in more than 25 countries including ours. In it More than 7.600 children between 8 and 17 years old have participated , In this way,  it was revealed that more than a half of the children in all the world are worried about cyberbullying. Equally, the results show that four out of ten children who participated in the study say that they have experienced cyberbullying and 24% said to have done cyberbullying. Also, a 19% of Spanish polled people have admitted that they have done cyberbullying to someone, while almost half of them (46%) have done it outside the internet. In addition, 63% of children said that they know a lot of cyberbullying and 81% said that they are worried about that.
